This painting doesn’t depict what the title might suggest .... Fireworks. That is, it isn’t a visual depiction of fireworks. Instead, it is the light emitted from fireworks reflected off of a temple in India and then illuminating the silhouettes of tropical trees. With all the bright and celebratory-related colors, one wouldn’t expect that such a beautiful sight is in fact the scene of a horrible firework show disaster.
